The basics in 1 minute

The aim

Pass, dribble and shoot to score in the opposing goal. A team may have at most 7 players on court, usually including a goalkeeper.

Scoring

A goal counts when the whole ball legally crosses the goal line. More goals win; competition rules decide whether a drawn match needs extra play.

Key rules

  • Hold the ball for at most 3 seconds and take at most 3 steps without dribbling.
  • After ending a dribble, you cannot simply start another one.
  • Respect the goalkeeper’s area; jumping in to shoot is allowed if the ball is released before landing and opponents are not disadvantaged.
