The basics in 1 minute

The aim

Move the ball with the stick and score in the opposing goal. Each side may have at most 11 players on the field.

Scoring

The team with more goals wins. For a goal, an attacker must play the ball inside the circle and it must remain inside before fully crossing the goal line.

Key rules

• Use the permitted face of the stick; the back of the stick is not allowed.
• Do not obstruct a legal tackle or play dangerously; body contact with the ball is judged by the rules, not automatically penalised.
• The standard match has 4 quarters of 15 minutes, with competition-specific variations possible.
