31. Approval

Player Analysis Technology approved for use under the Rules of Tennis must meet Appendix III. The ITF decides whether equipment is approved.

The ITF may act on its own initiative or on an application from someone with a genuine interest, including a player, equipment manufacturer, National Association or its members. Applications and decisions follow the ITF’s applicable Review and Hearing Procedures in Appendix XII.

Appendix III. Functions and access

Player Analysis Technology is equipment that performs any of the listed functions for player-performance information.

  • It may record or store the information.
  • It may transmit or analyse the information.
  • It may communicate information to a player in any form or by any means.

Recording during a match

The technology may record or store information during a match. The player may access that information only as Rule 30 allows; the ability to collect data does not itself authorise live access or coaching.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. Based on the supplied ITF Rules of Tennis 2026. Tournament regulations and approved alternatives can add specific conditions; these are identified separately.
