The basics in 1 minute

The aim

Score more runs than the other team by hitting and running around the bases.

Scoring

A normal fast pitch game has 7 innings. Each half-inning ends after 3 outs; a legal circuit of the bases scores a run.

Key rules

• Pitch underhand using the permitted fast pitch action.
• Runners stay on base until the pitcher’s non-pivot foot touches the ground during delivery.
• A catch, force play or legal tag can retire an attacker; use approved protective equipment.
