Article 41 — Individual limits

A player leaves after five fouls. Game disqualification also follows two category 1 technicals, two flagrants, or one of each. Category 2 technicals and disruptive fouls do not independently form that two-foul disqualification combination, although they count toward the five-foul limit. A coach is disqualified for two personal-behaviour technicals marked C, or three qualifying coach/bench technicals under the stated combination.

Article 42 — Team penalty

After four team fouls in a quarter, subsequent non-shooting personal fouls normally give the fouled player two free throws. Player personal, technical, disruptive, flagrant and disqualifying fouls count; coach/bench technicals do not. Overtime fouls add to the fourth-quarter team total. A personal foul by the team controlling or entitled to the ball still produces an opponents’ throw-in, not bonus free throws.

Article 43 — Several infractions

Officials record every foul, identify chronological order and cancel equal opposing penalties and double-foul penalties as prescribed. Technical free throws are generally administered first. Remaining penalties follow their order, and the final possession penalty overrides earlier possession rights. Once a penalty’s first free throw or throw-in becomes live, it can no longer cancel another penalty.
