Events and categories

Athletics includes running, jumping, throwing, combined events, race walking and races outside the stadium. World Rankings competitions follow World Athletics competition and technical rules together with applicable event regulations. The supplied book includes amendments effective through July 2026; a competition's own programme determines which disciplines and eligible categories are offered.

Reporting and participation

Athletes must meet entry requirements and report to the call room on time. Missing a confirmed start or abandoning genuine effort can exclude an athlete from later events at the competitions specified in the rules. Accepted medical or other justified reasons may provide exceptions; simply entering several events does not excuse missing a call.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. Independent explanations of the supplied World Athletics Competition and Technical Rules, including amendments through 1 July 2026. Event-specific regulations may add conditions.
