Follow the course

Competitors must follow the marked route, pass every checkpoint and propel themselves on skis. A route mistake can be corrected by returning safely without obstructing other skiers.

Passing safely

In interval races, an overtaken skier must give way on the first request. In other formats, the leading skier may choose a line but must not obstruct; passing must also be safe.
