A connected performance

Beam and floor are judged for presentation as well as skills. Rhythm, posture, expressive movement and transitions matter; disconnected elements and excessive preparation can reduce the execution score.

Floor accompaniment

Floor movement should interpret the music and finish with it. The human voice is allowed as an instrument without words; absent music or music with words incurs a penalty.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. Women's artistic gymnastics comprises vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor. The all-around total combines the scores from all 4 apparatus. Qualification, team, all-around and apparatus finals serve different purposes. These explanations follow the supplied FIG code; national and developmental competitions may use adapted rules.
