Additional penalty
An incomplete routine can incur a separate short-exercise penalty. With 7 or more elements there is none; 5–6 elements incur 4.00 and 3–4 incur 6.00.
Very short performances
With 1–2 elements the penalty is 8.00; with none it is 10.00. These penalties are separate from judging the difficulty and execution of what was performed.
Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. Women's artistic gymnastics comprises vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor. The all-around total combines the scores from all 4 apparatus. Qualification, team, all-around and apparatus finals serve different purposes. These explanations follow the supplied FIG code; national and developmental competitions may use adapted rules.
