Decisions, sanctions and appeals
FIA · 2026 · Issue 03In short
The bodies and procedures for resolving breaches.
Who decides
Stewards decide matters within their authority. The International Tribunal handles relevant disciplinary cases, while financial and anti-doping matters have dedicated bodies. Some cases can be resolved by settlement or an accepted breach agreement under the applicable requirements.
Review is not automatic
Appeals, protests and review petitions follow distinct procedures, deadlines and admissibility rules. Some decisions cannot be appealed. Sanctions depend on the breach and relevant aggravating or mitigating circumstances; published guidelines do not remove the decision-maker’s discretion.
