Formula 1 · General provisions 2026 / Article A1
Regulatory framework
FIA · 2026 · Issue 03In short
How the general rules connect the rulebooks.
A common foundation
The general provisions apply across the championship and its other rulebooks unless stated otherwise. Sporting, technical, financial and operational rules form separate sections; compliance with one does not replace compliance with the others.
Responsibility
Teams and manufacturers are responsible for breaches committed by people acting for them. Individuals have personal responsibility where expressly specified. FIA documents distinguish binding instructions authorised by the regulations from advisory guidance; a non-binding document does not create additional obligations.
