The rule

In standard doubles, both partners normally serve before service passes to the opponents. At the start of a game, however, the opening team has only one server; the starting call is 0–0–2.

In practice

A server changes sides after each point won. Losing the first server's rally passes service to the partner; losing the second passes it to the opponents. Each team's designated starting server belongs on the right at an even team score and left at an odd score.
