Pit lane
FIA · 2026 · Issue 09In short
Speed limits, safe releases and refuelling restrictions.
Speed and movement
The pit-lane limit is 80 km/h unless the Race Director changes it for safety and orderly running. Reversing under the car’s own power is prohibited. Drivers may exit only on a green pit-exit light, and teams must not release a car dangerously or in an unsafe condition.
Work and fuel
Work is normally confined to the inner lane and designated areas, with specific procedural exceptions. Personnel withdraw when their work is finished. Fuel may not be added or removed after the car leaves for reconnaissance laps until the finishing signal, so a race pit stop is not an opportunity to refuel.
