Lap-time-classified sessions rank individual lap times, while total-time-classified sessions include the race and sprint. Standard and alternative weekends differ by the presence of a sprint. Current, previous, historic and mule cars have specific definitions; these determine testing permissions. The pit lane’s fast and inner lanes also have distinct meanings.

Event and podium organisation

The organiser supplies circuit, schedule, official and facility information before the event. The podium appendix regulates ceremony management, flags, anthems, trophies, access and movement from parc fermé to interviews. It is an operational protocol, not an extra points system. Read it together with the driver attendance obligations and the stated Monaco exception.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. Three supplied FIA documents, with different seasons: general provisions 2026 (Issue 03, 25/06/2026), sporting rules 2026 (Issue 09, 01/10/2026), and technical rules 2027 (Issue 3, 01/10/2026). Read each section for its stated season. Future changes are identified separately. Independent condensed explanations; the supplied PDFs remain the source.
