In practice

A boat normally uses only equipment aboard at the preparatory signal. Moving ballast to change trim or stability is restricted by the racing rules, subject to valid applicable changes. Repaired equipment still has to comply; there is no blanket exemption simply because damage occurred during racing. Keep required certificates and identification consistent with the equipment actually being used.
