Functional system

Skis require brakes in races and official training. Plates must not be wider than the ski's running surface, and mounting must not impair binding release.

Height limits

Maximum bearing-surface height is 50 mm. The standard boot-sole thickness limit is 43 mm; these are separate measurements, not one interchangeable overall limit.

It covers alpine racing, not cross-country skiing, freestyle or recreational slope etiquette.
