Race format

Downhill is normally a single timed run. An authorised shorter-course format uses two runs, with the times added together.

Official training

Competitors must take part in at least one timed training run. Official training has safety and equipment requirements as well as a controlled start order.

It covers alpine racing, not cross-country skiing, freestyle or recreational slope etiquette.
