Table tennis / Rule 2.11
Winning a game
ITTF · 2026In short
The target score and the required winning margin.
The normal target
The first player or pair to reach 11 points wins the game unless both have reached 10. Points belong to the player or pair, regardless of who served. A game is one part of a match; winning it does not necessarily finish the match.
After equal scores
Once both sides have 10 points, play continues until one leads by 2 points. There is no fixed maximum score in this law. A narrow lead alone does not win the game; the required margin must actually be reached.
