Faults in a rally

Unless there is a let, an incorrect service or return loses the point. So do obstruction, deliberate consecutive hits, an illegal racket surface, moving the playing surface, touching the net assembly or placing the free hand on the playing surface. Ordinary doubles players must also respect their hitting order.

Wheelchair-specific faults

When both players or pairs use wheelchairs, the opponent must retain rear-thigh contact with the seat or cushions when striking, must not touch the table with either hand before striking and must keep feet and footrests off the floor during play. In doubles involving a wheelchair opponent, crossing the extended centre line with a wheelchair or standing player’s foot also loses the point.
