Table tennis / Rule 2.9
A let
ITTF · 2026In short
When a rally is replayed without awarding a point.
Service and interruptions
A service touching the net is a let if otherwise correct or obstructed by the receiver or partner. An unready receiver must not attempt a stroke to claim a let. An uncontrollable disturbance or an official’s interruption can also cause a let, including corrections of order or introduction of expedite.
Receiving in a wheelchair
For an otherwise correct service to a wheelchair receiver, a let applies if the ball returns towards the net after bouncing or stops on the receiving court. In singles it also applies if the ball leaves that court across a sideline after bouncing. These are specific wheelchair reception exceptions.
