Recovery time

After a fall, the gymnast normally has 30 seconds to remount; timing begins when he is on his feet. He may recover, use chalk and consult his coach within that interval.

Continuing the exercise

Exceeding the permitted recovery time brings a penalty; exceeding 60 seconds ends the exercise at the fall. Repeating the entire routine requires an authorised exceptional reason, not merely an ordinary mistake.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide explains the supplied FIG men’s artistic Code of Points for 2025–2028. It concerns artistic gymnastics; women’s artistic gymnastics has a separate code and different apparatus requirements. The all-around combines scores from floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. Team formats and qualification places are governed by the competition’s technical regulations.
