A flowing routine
Swinging, turns and releases should connect fluidly, using different grips and work near and away from the bar. Up to 3 opening swings or movements are allowed; extra opening movements cost 0.3 in total.
Flight and connections
Release skills should show a clear rise and a controlled regrasp. Eligible direct connections can add difficulty value, but the connection rules specify which skills qualify and require them within the counting elements.

It concerns artistic gymnastics; women’s artistic gymnastics has a separate code and different apparatus requirements. The all-around combines scores from floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. Team formats and qualification places are governed by the competition’s technical regulations.
