Start and movement

The gymnast starts from a still stand with legs together and takes off with both feet together. The routine should connect swings and flight through support and hanging positions without unnecessary reversals.

Clear handstands

Skills defined to finish in handstand must visibly reach that position before continuing. Swing handstands need not be held, but must show sufficient control to demonstrate that holding would have been possible.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide explains the supplied FIG men’s artistic Code of Points for 2025–2028. It concerns artistic gymnastics; women’s artistic gymnastics has a separate code and different apparatus requirements. The all-around combines scores from floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. Team formats and qualification places are governed by the competition’s technical regulations.
