Games and sets

Points progress through 15, 30 and 40. With advantage scoring, a pair needs two consecutive points from deuce. A standard set requires 6 games with a margin of 2; at 6–6 a tie-break normally decides it. Matches are best of 3 sets. A previously agreed deciding advantage set is also permitted.

Deciding points

Star Point allows two advantage cycles: if both are saved, the next return to deuce triggers one deciding point. Golden Point uses a deciding point immediately at deuce. The receiving pair chooses the receiving side without swapping players. In mixed matches the receiver must be the same sex as the server. The point decides the game.

Tie-breaks and alternatives

A normal tie-break requires 7 points with a margin of 2. The first server serves one point, then players serve two at a time in the established order. Permitted alternatives include mini-sets to 4 games with a two-game margin, with a tie-break at 4–4, and a deciding match tie-break to 7 or 10 points, each requiring a margin of 2.
