Normal playing times

The warm-up lasts 3 minutes. Between points the limit is 20 seconds; changeovers allow 90 seconds and set breaks 120 seconds. After the opening game of a set and during tie-breaks there is no rest break; tie-break end changes allow 20 seconds. Players unready 10 minutes after the scheduled start normally lose by walkover.

Medical care and resumption

A treatable condition permits a 3-minute treatment break, with further attention at the next two changeovers within normal time. Exceptional non-play medical incidents may allow up to 15 minutes; unusual on-court incidents up to 5 minutes, at the umpire’s discretion. After suspension, play resumes with the same score and order; any renewed warm-up depends on the interruption’s length.
