Delivery and landing faults

A serve is faulty if its delivery breaches the service requirements, the server misses the ball when trying to strike it, or the ball first bounces outside the correct service box. Boundary lines count as in. Contact with the server, their partner or anything either wears or carries is also a fault.

Fence and exit faults

Even after a correct first bounce, a serve is faulty if it touches the metal fence before its second bounce. A serve that bounces correctly and goes directly through a gate is also faulty where there is no safety area and outside play is not authorised. A wall rebound is not automatically the same as fence contact.
