Seconds and the towel

Seconds must remain in their designated seats during rounds and may not interfere with officials or opponents. The corner can retire its boxer by the prescribed towel procedure during a round, except while the referee is counting, or indicate during the interval that the boxer will not resume.

Medical oversight

The referee may ask the ringside doctor to examine a boxer and stop a contest that is unsafe. Medical eligibility is required before competition, and the medical rules govern fitness and follow-up. Equipment, category and medical checks are safeguards; this guide does not replace the event’s medical clearance or the official rules.
