Immediate response

A minor low blow without a complaint need not interrupt the bout: the referee can signal the foul. A hard, intentional low blow can bring immediate disqualification. Otherwise, when the affected boxer complains of its severity, the referee may begin an eight-count and assess whether boxing can continue.

Recovery time

If the boxer is still unfit after that count, recovery time is limited to 90 seconds. If recovery is sufficient, the referee may warn the offender and resume. Under this procedure, failure to recover results in an RSC-I win for the opponent; do not confuse it with immediate disqualification for a hard intentional foul.
