The rule

Transferable bleeding requires the player to leave court, stop the flow and cover the wound; clean the court and replace bloodstained clothing. A scrape without flowing blood or blood visible through a dressing is not automatically a blood injury.

In practice

A self-inflicted blood injury allows up to five minutes, then concession of the game and the available interval if needed. An inadequately covered pre-existing wound requires conceding the game immediately. Injuries involving both players or solely the opponent use reasonable-time rules with different outcomes; recurrence does not automatically renew the allowance.
