The rule

The marker calls the score and faults; the referee decides appeals and interference. Appeal before the next serve, except for the special broken-ball procedure. An appeal about a game's last rally must be immediate.

In practice

Where video review is available, it covers stroke, let, no-let and specified pickup, double-hit or carry decisions, not player-requested line or tin reviews. Best-of-five allows two reviews, best-of-three one; the deciding game starts with one review each and no carry-over. A successful review normally retains the review, but a change against the requester does not.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide covers World Squash Singles Rules 2025, version 1.2, effective 1 September 2025. Two opponents share an enclosed court and alternate hitting the ball against the front wall; these are not doubles rules.
