The rule

Snowboard cross and Alpine snowboarding require separate trousers and a top that can be worn independently. They may not be connected, even temporarily. A one-piece speed suit is prohibited even underneath a separate top. The jacket should overlap the trousers when the rider stands.

In practice

In snowboard cross, trousers must be visibly loose from the upper leg down and their outer layer must not attach to the boot. Braces and bib trousers are prohibited. Alpine trousers reach the boot’s top buckle and the jacket reaches the hips. These specific clothing restrictions do not apply to Park & Pipe.

Numbers refer to PDF viewer pages. Topic numbers are editorial. Snowboarding includes timed gate races, snowboard cross and judged park-and-pipe events. Slalom and giant slalom reward fast, correct runs; parallel events add direct duels. Snowboard cross combines terrain features with racing in groups. Halfpipe, slopestyle, big air and street style use judging rather than simply the fastest time.
