Snowboard disciplines and rulebooks

FIS · 2026 / 2027
In short

Snowboarding includes timed gate races, snowboard cross and judged park-and-pipe events. Slalom and giant slalom reward fast, correct runs; parallel events add direct duels. Snowboard cross combines terrain features with racing in groups. Halfpipe, slopestyle, big air and street style use judging rather than simply the fastest time.

In practice

This guide combines the supplied FIS competition rules with the separate technical equipment requirements. Competition procedures and equipment compliance are different checks. Use the rules for the actual snowboard discipline: neighbouring freestyle skiing, freeski and ski cross sections in the combined book are not snowboard rules.
