Results, protests and reruns

FIS · 2026 / 2027
In short

A protest must have a permitted ground, supporting reasons and the required procedure and fee. Deadlines vary: in parallel and snowboard-cross heats, relevant protests must be raised before the next heat. Published results can be corrected through the applicable process; an informal complaint is not a valid protest.

The rule

A protest must have a permitted ground, supporting reasons and the required procedure and fee. Deadlines vary: in parallel and snowboard-cross heats, relevant protests must be raised before the next heat. Published results can be corrected through the applicable process; an informal complaint is not a valid protest.

In practice

Only the jury grants a rerun, for example after a qualifying external obstruction or a technical failure. Report the incident immediately. A provisional rerun needs confirmation and, once valid, replaces the original even if worse. Snowboard-cross race interference is specifically excluded as a standalone reason for a rerun.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. References: ICR = sporting competition rules; Equipment = technical equipment specifications. Numbers refer to PDF viewer pages. Topic numbers are editorial. Snowboarding includes timed gate races, snowboard cross and judged park-and-pipe events. Slalom and giant slalom reward fast, correct runs; parallel events add direct duels. Snowboard cross combines terrain features with racing in groups. Halfpipe, slopestyle, big air and street style use judging rather than simply the fastest time.
