Valid crossing

Unless contact with a defender occurs, the raider must cross the baulk line during the raid. Crossing requires ground contact beyond it and no ground contact in the area between that line and the midline.

Contact exception

After touching a defender, the raider need not complete a separate baulk-line crossing. The raider must still return legally with the chant; merely reaching the line does not guarantee a successful raid.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide explains standard team kabaddi using the supplied IKF rules. Teams alternate attacking raids and defensive tackles; it does not automatically apply the additional regulations of a professional league. A raider enters the opposing half, tries to touch defenders and returns safely while maintaining the prescribed chant. Defenders try to prevent that return without using prohibited holds.
