Cant and return

The raider must begin the repeated, audible “kabaddi” chant before entering the opposing half and maintain it through the raid. A safe return requires contact with the home half through the midline within 30 seconds.

Starting the next raid

The next team must begin its raid within 5 seconds. A delay gives the opponents 1 technical point, although the delayed team retains its raid. Only a single raider may attack at a time.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide explains standard team kabaddi using the supplied IKF rules. Teams alternate attacking raids and defensive tackles; it does not automatically apply the additional regulations of a professional league. A raider enters the opposing half, tries to touch defenders and returns safely while maintaining the prescribed chant. Defenders try to prevent that return without using prohibited holds.
