Empty raids

A raid is empty when the raider crosses the baulk line and returns without gaining or conceding a point. After 2 empty raids by the same team, its next raid becomes do-or-die.

The compulsory attempt

On that third raid, failure to score or expiry of 30 seconds puts the raider out and gives the opponents 1 point and a revival. The source resets the raid count after the break.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide explains standard team kabaddi using the supplied IKF rules. Teams alternate attacking raids and defensive tackles; it does not automatically apply the additional regulations of a professional league. A raider enters the opposing half, tries to touch defenders and returns safely while maintaining the prescribed chant. Defenders try to prevent that return without using prohibited holds.
