MotoGP and Moto3

MotoGP allows four-stroke engines up to 1000 cc with at most 4 cylinders; Moto3 allows 250 cc single-cylinder four-strokes. Maximum bore is 81 mm in both.

Moto2 engine supply

Moto2 uses the official supplier’s engines, randomly allocated and sealed. Teams may perform only authorised maintenance without breaking seals; internal repairs belong to the supplier.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. This guide covers MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 under the supplied FIM Grand Prix regulations, updated 2026-09-13. Other motorcycle championships have different rules. Race procedures, rider conduct and motorcycle specifications work together. Class-specific exceptions matter: a MotoGP rule does not automatically apply to Moto2 or Moto3.
