Proportional protection

Goalkeeper equipment must protect the body, not provide unfair assistance in stopping shots. Chest and arm protection and pants must fit the goalkeeper’s proportions. Leg pads may not exceed 28 cm in width when worn.

Masks and inspections

An approved face mask is required during play; its openings must not admit a puck. Extra attachments and artificial blocking surfaces are restricted. IIHF inspections may take place before, during or after games, and illegal equipment must be corrected.
