IIHF · 2026/27
In short

Team time-outs and situations where they are unavailable.

Allowance

Each team has 1 time-out of 30 seconds per game, requested during an eligible stoppage before the referee completes the change procedure. Players on the ice, including the goalkeeper, may go to their bench.

Restrictions

No defensive-team time-out follows icing or certain goalkeeper and displaced-net stoppages. None is granted after a face-off violation or during a shootout. Official broadcast breaks follow separate rules and do not use a team’s allowance.
