Brakes
FIA · 2027 · Issue 3Separate hydraulic circuits, disc dimensions and limits on electronic assistance.
Braking remains the driver’s task
A brake pedal operates separate hydraulic circuits for the front and rear wheels, so that failure of one circuit leaves the other operable. Systems designed to prevent wheel locking are prohibited. Intentional asymmetric braking torque across an axle is also forbidden. Powered rear-brake control is permitted only under specific conditions, including a hydraulic fallback and a limit tied to driver-generated pressure.
Discs and cooling
Each wheel has a single brake disc rotating with the wheel. Maximum disc thickness is 34 mm. Front-disc diameter must be between 325 and 345 mm; rear-disc diameter between 260 and 280 mm. Liquid cooling of the brakes is prohibited. These are technical construction limits, not braking distances or instructions about where a driver must brake.
