Definitions and geometry

The appendices define technical terms and the reference volumes used to check the car. Car mass includes tyres, driver and driver ballast, but excludes fuel. CAD construction geometry is not automatically a legality boundary; the specified final volumes and surfaces matter.

Drawings and supply boundaries

The drawings clarify measurement conventions, component locations and safety indicators. Supply and sealed-component boundaries are separate columns in the power-unit tables. A component included in one boundary is not automatically included in another. Upgrade permissions remain subject to their stated conditions.

Component classification

The classification table identifies component categories, system boundaries, included items and exclusions. Read the complete row with the corresponding article; a familiar component name alone does not establish whether a team may obtain or share its design. This guide condenses the appendices rather than reproducing their engineering tables.

Independent explanations and translations, not official federation publications. Three supplied FIA documents, with different seasons: general provisions 2026 (Issue 03, 25/06/2026), sporting rules 2026 (Issue 09, 01/10/2026), and technical rules 2027 (Issue 3, 01/10/2026). Read each section for its stated season. Future changes are identified separately. Independent condensed explanations; the supplied PDFs remain the source.
