Compliance throughout the event

The car must comply with the technical regulations throughout a competition. The entrant must demonstrate compliance to the FIA and stewards; the power-unit manufacturer shares responsibility for its unit. Stewards may exclude a dangerously constructed car, with immediate effect if the danger becomes apparent during a session.

Proving a design is legal

Mechanical compliance normally has to be demonstrable through physical inspection rather than software inspection. Electronic systems may be checked through hardware, software and data. The FIA may request digital models and compare them with the car. Permitted new technologies outside the existing rules remain subject to review after their introductory championship.
